Crates are crucial objects scattered around the gardens and are there to help all contenders.
Crates come in various forms:
Ammo: These are small, yellow crates that can replenish your standard bolts or weapon's ammo
Health: These red crates can be used by Runners to recover their health, or self-revive if they are downed
Upgrade Parts: These blue crates contain parts essential in upgrading your weapons or bolts and must be taken to an Upgrade Station to be used
Golden Crate: This is a special crate that randomly appears during arena events. Should a runner be the first to open it, the team is granted infinite NPI for a short amount of time. However, if a Hunter reaches it, they are granted infinite ammo and stamina for the duration of the power-up.
Marking crates grant Runners a sum of NPI and signpost them to the rest of the Runner team. Take advantage of this mechanic so that your team knows where to find specific resources.
If multiple Runners are in close proximity to an ammo or upgrade crate and a single Runner interacts with the crate, each Runner will receive the crates contents. This means a runner can mark a crate, wait for others to come closer and then interact with the crate in order to make sure everyone gets the bonus within.
Hunters can also “mark” these crates. By shooting a crate, the Hunter “Hacks” said crate. Whenever a Runner interacts with a hacked crate, that Runner alerts the Hunter and becomes revealed. Hacked crates are identifiable by a discreet red-tint.
